Under the Equality Act 2010, taxi drivers and operators must not refuse service to disabled passengers because of their assistance dog. Guide dogs are recognised as assistance animals, and refusing them is direct discrimination. Taxi licensing authorities can take enforcement action including suspension or revocation of licences.
If refused taxi hire with your assistance dog, report it immediately to your local licensing authority and keep evidence (time, location, driver details). You can also lodge a complaint with the Equality and Human Rights Commission or pursue a civil claim.
