Effective date: 1 August 2026

The Assistance Dog Registry is operated by NS Design ID Cards, a sole trader based at 9 Coolnagard Avenue, Omagh, BT78 1GA, United Kingdom. You can reach us at [email protected].

We are not VAT registered, so the price you see is the total you pay.

By creating an account, registering a dog, or purchasing a membership, you agree to these terms. Please read them before you pay.

1. What the Registry is

The Assistance Dog Registry is a voluntary record and identification service for assistance dog handlers in the UK.

When you register you get:

  • a profile for your dog holding the details you choose to enter
  • a unique registration number
  • a public profile page and QR code you can show to anyone who asks
  • depending on your plan, printed ID cards and kit posted to you

It exists to make the everyday conversation easier, at a shop door, a taxi, or a holiday let, by letting you show clear and consistent information instead of explaining from scratch every time.

2. What the Registry is not

We are deliberately clear about this, because other companies are not.

The Registry does not:

  • certify, accredit, assess, or validate assistance dogs
  • determine whether a dog meets the Equality Act 2010 definition
  • issue legally binding identification or government approval, because no such thing exists in the UK
  • verify disabilities, medical conditions, or training standards
  • act as a regulator or governing body

Under the Equality Act 2010:

Registration does not create legal rights and is not a guarantee of access. Your rights come from the Equality Act, not from us. What we provide is a clear, consistent way to communicate them.

Anyone claiming to issue an “official” or “government approved” assistance dog certificate in the UK is misleading you.

3. Your account and your dog’s profile

You agree to:

By registering, you confirm your dog is trained to perform tasks related to a disability and behaves safely in public, in line with UK law. We do not assess this and we rely on your confirmation.

One registration covers one dog and one handler. If you need to register a different dog, or move a registration to a different handler, that requires a new registration. An existing registration cannot be reassigned.

You control whether your public profile is visible, and you can change or hide it at any time from your account. We aim to keep the service available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.

4. How verification works, and its limits

If you choose to share your registration number, QR code, or profile link, the person you show it to can look it up on our website. That lookup confirms the profile exists in our register and shows the information you chose to make public.

To protect your privacy and comply with UK GDPR, we will not discuss your registration with anyone else. Specifically, we do not:

This protects you. Your information is yours to share, and nobody can telephone us to check up on you.

Businesses and landlords must make access decisions based on the law itself, not on any private register, ours included. We do not act as an advocate, adjudicator, or legal representative in disputes, and we do not intervene with third parties on your behalf.

5. Memberships, billing and renewals

Plans and prices are shown on our website. Monthly and annual memberships renew automatically at the then current price until you cancel. The Lifelong Partner Pack is a single payment and does not renew.

We will tell you before any price change, and changes apply only to future billing periods.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your online account. Cancelling stops future payments. It does not refund payments already taken, and your membership runs until the end of the period you have paid for.

If a payment fails

We will retry it and contact you. If it cannot be collected, your membership and public profile will be suspended until payment is brought up to date. Your data is not deleted, and reactivating restores your profile.

6. Cancellation and refunds

Before we start making your items

Production begins as soon as your payment is received. If you contact us before production has started, you receive a full refund including postage. Please email us as quickly as possible if you change your mind.

Once production has started

Your ID cards and kit are personalised to you and your dog and made to your specification. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, personalised goods are exempt from the 14 day cancellation right, so once production has begun they cannot be returned or refunded.

Digital only memberships

Your registration and profile are available to you immediately. By completing your purchase you ask us to start the service straight away and accept that the 14 day cancellation right does not apply once it has begun. You can cancel future renewals at any time.

If something is wrong with your order

Tell us within 7 days of delivery if your items arrive damaged, faulty, incomplete, or incorrect, and we will replace them or refund you.

We will always refund:

  • duplicate or incorrect charges
  • payments taken after you cancelled
  • technical failures that prevented you using the service
  • items that arrive damaged, faulty, or wrong, reported within 7 days of delivery

We cannot refund:

  • personalised items once production has started
  • items that have been received and used
  • delays caused by Royal Mail or a courier after dispatch
  • decisions made by landlords, businesses, or other third parties

Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights for goods that are faulty or not as described.

Photographs

We cannot produce your items until your photographs are uploaded. We will remind you, and your digital profile works in the meantime. If we have not received them after 30 days we will contact you to check how you would like to proceed.

Replacements

Risk passes to you on delivery. If something arrives damaged or does not arrive at all, tell us and we will put it right.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use the Registry to misrepresent an untrained pet as an assistance dog, impersonate another handler, or present our materials as government issued. We may suspend or close accounts that do so, without refund. We may also remove content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes someone else’s rights.

9. Your data

We process your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. In short: we hold what you give us in order to run your registration, you choose what is public, we never sell your data, and we never confirm your registration to third parties who contact us.

You can request a copy of your data, or its deletion, at any time. Deleting your data ends your registration, and your public profile, QR code and any card you hold will stop working when scanned.

10. Liability

We provide an information and identification service. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for:

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous 12 months.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email or on your account page before they take effect. The version that applies to you is the one published on the date of your purchase.
